Final Blog Entry

Well summer is just around the corner and so is graduation. I would like you to link the following to your blog (http://lhs.loswego.k12.or.us/z-mcbrides/AP/2009/09APbreadthconcentration.htm) and then sum up the year in a paragraph or two. Talk about the work you created, what you were most proud of, what you struggled with and any advise that you would give next years AP students.

I know that you have heard me say this a million times but I am very proud of all of you and the work you created! You astound me with all your abilities.

Is it summer yet?

We have about 20 school days left until summer. During that time we will be creating art with service in mind. Do you have any ideas? Last year students made images to send to students in Afghanistanthrough a non profit company. Lindsay has a few ideas but I wanted to see if anybody else had a group or organization they felt needed some help.

We will have a fun celebration on Tuesday and then get started on Thursday. It's been a great year and this will be a good way to go out.

Just in case I forget there are several art shows this summer that you can participate in. Help me remind you about them!

Artist Statement

How do you write an artist statement? What should I say about my work? Why should I write one, other than the fact that Ms. McBride said I have to?

Here are some interesting sites with information about writing an artist statement that should help you.

Off to Nationals - Be Good

Wednesday I leave for Nationals in MLPS, MN. I'm very excited to share with other art educators all the great work you are doing.

By April 30th you need:

1. Two new concentration pieces (last ones!)
2. All your concentration work ready to hang. That means, eyescrews, wire, matted, all that good stuff.
3. Keep that blog updated and keep talking to each other. You are each others greatest champions.
4. Concentration statements written and printed out for the AP Art Showcase.

Don't miss me too much. Be good.

The other artist can be from anywhere but also needs to be alive. Post two images from each artist on your blog spot and write a paragraph (4-5 complete sentences) on each of the artists.

http://www.padaoregon.org/ This is a great link to Portland galleries and artists.

What about thier work is inspiring. Try to avoid the "I LIKE" comments. See Ms. McB's blog for an example.....

Has it really been two weeks?

I can't believe it's been two weeks since I made a blog post. It's time to get back to our schedule of blog comments, blog updates and sketchbook entries. We have two pieces due at the end of the month and a life drawing session coming up.

Scholastic was a huge success! Couldn't be prouder of how you all did. Thank you for your willingness to volunteer and help make the event a success.

I'll see you all on Tuesday! Ms. McB

Thursday, January 1, 2009

Yes Virginia you do need to have two pieces of art completed.

Just because it snowed the last week of school doesn't mean you don't have to do art. Each of you will have two pieces of art due on Tuesday, January 6th. You have had LOTS of time to work on your art, don't be a slacker :)

We are going to need to hit the ground running after we get back.

1. Finalize all Scholastic portfolios and individual entries.
2. Photograph all Breadth section images (I will stop photographing images on the 16th, get your work in well before that date.)
3. Create Breadth section website (don't worry Ms. McB will help with this)
4. You will have two addition pieces due at the end of January (it just never stops!)

Whew! At the end of January we will be half way through! The year goes by so fast.
